Great news! World Paella Day launches its IV edition, an event through which Valencia, the port city located on the southeast coast of Spain, seeks to consecrate the 8 best chefs representing each country on September 20. In addition, for those interested in participating, this year as a novelty, fans will be able to send their songs to their representatives.
The International Paella Day is a recognition of the most universal dish of Valencia’s gastronomy. A day in which Valencians share their plate with the rest of the world with great pride to celebrate, beyond recipes and ingredients, the internationality of paella. A meal of humble Valencian origin that has crossed all borders: with eight million annual searches on the internet, they make it the fourth most important dish on the planet.
For the second consecutive year, World Paella Day is dressed as a world cup to reissue the second edition of the paella competition in the most soccer style. On this occasion, the Spanish Tourism Office of Buenos Aires joins the initiative and encourages chefs from all its markets – Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador – to participate in this World Cup. To join the initiative, each chef must send a video before July 12, 2021, not exceeding 59 seconds, in which they tell their professional story, which country they want to represent and why they would like to participate in the II World Paella Day CUP.
The best videos will go to the final phase and people will be able to vote until August 6. In addition, fans will be able to upload their “paelleros” songs with the #WorldPaellaDayCUP and the # of the contestant they cheer on. All the details of the competition will be announced on www.worldpaelladay.org and the social networks @worldpaelladay. Another novelty is that this year the 8 finalists selected by public voting and a professional jury will win a trip to Valencia, to see the cradle of paella and to compete live for the second World Paella Day CUP on September 20.
